Friends - Thomas Hauser

from the series MEMORIE / ITEMS

I was really excited when Thomas emailed to tell me he has updated his site. I've been a fan of his work for quite some time and it's great to see some (amazing) new work.

Friends - Daniel Shea

Friend and photographer Daniel Shea is having a print sale (at a few levels - one for everyone) to fund a new project, a sort of continuation of his amazing Removing Mountains. If you haven't seen this work yet, please give it a long look. It's a beautiful, socially-conscious body of work that hits particularly close to home for me, having a "rich" history of coal mining in my family. I can only imagine Dan's new work is going to be even more powerful.

Friends

Bryan on our old steps, St. Louis, MO, 2006

My good friend Bryan Reckamp (above) recently updated his website. It looks fantastic (way to go Bryan!). Check it out if you have a minute and give him a shout. He's currently riding his bike across the country and he's probably somewhere in Oklahoma or Colorado, but he has an iphone, so there you go.

Beach bound

Riley towel face, Outter Banks, NC, 2006

We're headed to the shore tomorrow morning. It will be Eliot's first time seeing the ocean and I can't wait. This photo (of our nephew, who was very close to Eliot's current age) was taken on our last beach vacation, when Heather was only slightly pregnant with Eliot. It seems like ages ago. I can't wait to smell the salty air. See you soon!

ROMKA Magazine

I was tipped off to ROMKA magazine by Daniel a while back. It's a refreshing new online publication that you can actually download! Issue 2 just came out and I'm honored to have been included. There's a lot of great work in both issues. Download and dive in. Thanks to Joscha for including my work.

H E R E  and  T H E R E  in  P A

H E R E  and  T H E R E  will open in Johnstown, PA on March 27. I'm really excited to bring it "There," which I suppose is now "Here," since we've moved back to PA. Regardless I'm happy to bring it home. Here's the lineup, with links:

If you can make it, we'd love to see you!

Cover Story - repost

I love random emails bringing good news. I received one two weeks ago from Julianna Lee, a senior designer at Little, Brown and Company. She saw my photo Changing Weather on flakphoto and asked for permission to use it on the cover of the paperback version of Elizabeth McCracken's memoir "An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination." We hashed out the details and it's now official. Julianna sent me the cover last week and I think it turned out beautifully.
